What happened
The team at Spirit & Truth Outreach Ministry originally reached out to us in 2015 because of some major water issues they were having in their basement. The building has a long drainage ditch that runs alongside of it. When it rains, the drainage ditch gets clogged, and it causes water to run down in to the building's basement which sits below ground. The pictures show the proximity of the drainage ditch to the building, as well as the easy path the water has to get down in to the basement. They consisteny battled water in the basement; many times having a foot or more of standing water at any given time. The church uses the basement area as a fellowship gathering area, and the water over time has not only prevented them from using the space, but it has compromised the safety of the space itself. They did not proceed with the repair at the time, but reached out to us again in 2016 to move forward. The problems continued to get worse. Unfortunately, water incursion issues, if left un-addressed will lead to a compromised structure. When left to its own devices, water will create significant structural problems. Some of the photos shown give some insight to what water, moisture, and humidty will do over time.
They can't do a whole lot about the drainage issue occuring of their property, but they sure can make sure that their basement space stays dry. The crew removed the concrete form the entire perimeter of the floor in the basement, making room for our WaterGuard system. Learn more about our waterproofing system here. The WaterGuard system, which included a sump, then had new concrete poured over the top (as pictured) to hide it from view. Because the system is installed under the floor (but sits above the footing), the church will be able to come back and re-do the actual flooring however they wish to. It is out of sight in the space.
Now, when water comes rushing to the building, the water has a means to travel through the WaterGuard system instead of into the basement area. (CONTINUE TO SCROLL FOR MORE PICTURES ON THE RIGHT)
